Go from zero to proficient in 17 lessons. Gain a fully developed set of skills and knowledge, complete with tips, tricks and terminology that will make you a confident seamstress, equipped to tackle any hand sewing project.
You’ll begin to think like an artist as you explore and experiment with different types of textiles, practice creativity through colors and design, and develop your own artistic style.

Welcome to my class, Mastering Hand Sewing! I’m excited to invite you into my studio to show you all the ways to use a needle and thread. Besides learning how to sew, I want you to imagine and design what to sew. If you’ll pour yourself into this course, by the time you’re done, you’ll be equipped to continue in any sewing discipline with confidence.

Sewing used to be an essential and enjoyable activity that has since been lost. This class is about reconnecting you with long-forgotten skills. We want getting started to feel simple, not overwhelming or expensive. That’s why we offer individual project kits, allowing you to purchase materials only for the projects you want to make or the supplies you don’t already have. Each kit includes thoughtfully curated materials in similar colors and textures used by Kris, cut to the sizes needed. This keeps costs down, avoids unnecessary extras, and lets you focus on sewing with confidence.

Mastering Hand Sewing, the first class in our Comprehensive Sewing series, is the perfect place to begin your sewing journey. Once you know how fabric behaves, how to control it, and how stitches form, these skills translate seamlessly to machine sewing.
The next class, Machine Sewing Fundamentals, will build directly on the foundational skills you've already learned. Once you understand the rhythm of stitching by hand, using a machine becomes less intimidating and more intuitive. With this solid base, you're ready to learn how to work more efficiently, explore new techniques, and tackle bigger projects with confidence.
